Procrastination....

A sure sign that you are the daughter of a Love male!!! LOL..sad but true. It's really weird, but, my Dad and all his brothers all tend to procrastinate! Even my Uncle Leonard!! LOL...Aunt Ann's told me ALL about his procrastination thing. Dad's the same exact way...

Okay, since you've last heard from me...I've been to Dr. Perry twice...okay, my Lexapro's been doubled, I'm now taking 15 units of Lantus a day, along with my Lassix being upped too...Anyway,t they also played vampire on me and drew blood...Nothing new there, other than the typical joys of being a Type 2 Diabetic! I look at it this way, at least I'm not the one in a locked down Alzheimer's/ Dementia Unit because I was foolish enough TO let MY blood glucose get SO out of control it drove me barmy...- not that I'm not already barmy...utterly besides the point, don't you think?

I'm really looking forward to not just the new Harry Potter book due out- which I pre-ordered today from Wallie World...Nope. I'm also very much looking forward to the family reunion the 21st.. Getting to see my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins...- Yeah, I'm really eagerly anticipating that...although, I kind of sort of hope that I have the new Harry Potter book to take along with me for the long ride to Moran with Dad,Uncle Allen, and Miss Betty! (But, then again, I'm also going to take a little needlework with me as well...(Knitting...or maybe some cotton to crochet dishcloths. Nah, knitting! I wanna play with the new yarn when it gets here!!!!)

Ooooh..and did I mention we've got a place here in town that has the BEST Fried Okra? Oh yeah..big time! I can deal with their okra being there, instead of my beloved Green Beans...Church's Fried Chicken on W. Pawnee, here in Wichita has the BEST fried Okra, let me tell you! That stuff is SO darn addictive...Yummo!! To heck with Taco Tico or Hua Xing!!!- Okay, maybe I don't like it well enough to give up Egg Rolls...Hm...and, I still haven't had my Starbuck's fix for the month...major bummer there, folks...Ah well, it's not like I need a big honking Venti sized Java chip frappucino...( Okay, I tried the white chocolate raspberry...it's better as hot coffee than a cold delectable treat that COULD send me into DEEP trouble with my Diabetes...hm...wonder if they have the banana kind like they had last summer? *drools*) I can make do just fine with the coffee based goodies I've got here at home...speaking of which, I need to pick up some Millstone Chocolate Velvet coffee...some more Caramel Syrup (Sugar free, of course..),and maybe some Suisse Mocha International Coffee stuff...) Hm...maybe, I'll go put me on a pot of coffee....sounds good to me....but, first, I think I'll have some bottled water, though.

To be honest, I thought the entire Wild West World thing was kinda cool, and I wanted to go check it out! But, like most everyone here in town, I was equally as shocked, when they announced yesterday, that they had gone bankrupt. But, on the other hand, the cynic and pragmatic part of me- the pessimist, if you will sort of had the gut feeling that it was a black hole sucking in money, and wouldn't last long...no matter how kitschy it really was...(Playing on the Wild West aspect of Wichita's history, as it were..)Damn it! I wanted to check out the Roller Coasters!!! I LOVE Roller Coasters! the more loopy loops, and other stomach churning stuff the more I like it! Hey, I'm the one that LOVED the Oriental Express, and that one roller coaster they had at Six Flags over Texas in 1985 or so..Judge Roy's Holler or something? Cool Roller Coaster! - I think I drove Dad insane when I was a kid...always wanting to ride the roller coaster at Joyland...thing was, Dad wasn't having any of me riding it alone. I guess he was afraid I'd fall out of the cart or whatever..Hm..wonder why if that was why Aunt Lou wouldn't let me anywhere near the Roller Coaster at Silver Dollar City when I was a kid? Tell you this much, though...I probably would've had MORE fun on the Roller Coaster than letting my cousins, Cindy, Sherry, and Joni drag me through that god damned Wierd House that made me SO sick, I puked up all over Uncle Leonard's car that time! ( I'm STILL amazed he didn't get utterly livid or hopping mad at me over that stunt...No thanks to my cousins..Love 'em, mind you...but, they should've known better- Roller Coasters are the ONLY way!!!) - but, tell you this as well...a Roller Coaster is NO big deal in contrast to Billy Newman dressed up like Satan himself....
scaring the cow patties out of a kid!!! (Ugh...it's STILL scary enough to make me shudder, although, it's been nearly 30 years..)

Ah well,as you can see it's boring on the Love end of it..but, boy oh boy is there news on the Shrewsbury front...for example, we now know more about Grand Dad Buren's family than we did initially...While I still think that Great Aunt Ruth was full of shit when she said we were part black...- that I refuse to believe! I think it's far more likely that we're very likely bastard spawn of Pleasants Lilly. I mean really. Ol' boy was really getting live with the honey in his day...between three wives he had TWENTY FIVE children?!?!?! Oh, and that's NOT including the fact that we now know who brought our family to America....one Jeremiah Solesbury/Shrewsbury....who in turn married Mary Elizabeth Clay...( Her family can be traced all the way back to the 1530's or so, in Wales...there was a Captain in there, as well as a dubbed Knight, as it were..) But, Pleasants seems like he was one heck of a peice of work...married to Delilah, and they had four boys...THEN he started fooling and bonin' two of Thomas Shrewsbury's daughters...Nancy Jane and Amelia ( Millie)....and between those two sisters they had twenty one kids...My Great Great Grandfather, William Edward Shrewsbury was the youngest of that tribe of rug rats! Not to mention the fact that Pleasant's father, Thomas Lilly was married to Rosanna Meador- whose father was tried for Treason durring the Revolutionary war for being a British/Tory Sympathizer. While it's nice knowing that about my blood family..the coolest part of it- well I think so, is the story that is handed down to those with Lilly in their blood and ancestory...-yes, me!!! Although, I was late IN hearing the story to begin with!

Apparently there were three brothers with the surname Lilly. ( Spelled Lillie in France.)...Obviously..they were French! But, how their family came TO be in France was this- the King at the time ordered a Joust. However, this knight in question, Sir Lillie, loved his country, and loved his fellow countrymen so much that he refused to comply with what the King demanded of him. SO, the King exiled him away and refused to lift the exile. So, the Knight, Sir Lillie settled in France. ( I don't know what year, or which monarchs were on the throne.) Anyway, that is whom these three brothers descended from. I don't know the other two brothers' names..but, the one brother was known in family lore as "John the Immigrant". Anyway, once they arrived upon American shores...One brother wanted to dine and experience America's finest, the other wanted to go west and partake of HIS part of the Gold....the last brother wanted to stay in the area and settle...The three brothers decided amongst themselves to slightly change the spelling of their names so that each other's yet to be born descendants would know which brother they descended from by the different spelling change in their last names- Lily, Lillie, and Lilly.

Now, OK...here's where our family's challenge lies...seeing as we're descended from Pleasants Lilly...we've now got to figure out, or prove WHICH of those original brothers that arrived from France in the 1670's? And, that may well prove in and of itself to be daunting if not interesting!

So, that's the latest here, in this neck of the woods...

Nita

I guess the new Harry Potter movie is out..well, I think I'll wait until it comes out on DVD, then I'll get it and watch it here at home. I just don't see any sense in going through all the BS it would take to go to the movies to see it- especially with as high priced as everything is these days...
