Well....I think the subject line pretty well explains my absence...Technical Difficulties of the Computer kind...you see, I've got for hellish beasts that some would lovingly call cats...Angel, Roscoe Nathaniel, Beavis, and Butthead. Seems that Beavis and Butthead decided they were gonna race....behind the computer desk, no less! And, well, between the two of them they yanked the power cord off the back of the monitor as they raced behind the computer desk...and me, being the ditz I am, I thought the monitor had totally petered out or was totally messed up- hence, a trip to visit the Geek Squad. Well....we DID make that trip, and I forgot the power cord for the monitor. Seeing as I knew Dad wasn't exactly keen on another trip out to Best Buy, I decided to tinker with it myself- nothing more serious than taking the monitor to the plug in in the kitchen and see if I could get the monitor to power on. It worked. So, then I decided I'd re-connect everything, and see if I could get it to work...and what do you know! Houston, we got lift off!!! It worked. Thing is, I didn't connect the speakers to the right place in the back of the tower- they power on, but, no audio.- But, that's okay. Granted, for the time being, I'll miss the audio aspect of cyberspace. but, for the most part, for what I want to do, doesn't really require sound...or whatever.
Hm..Political Happenings? Well...Tuesday there's the big vote to bring expanded gaming to Sedgwick County. Me, personally, I'm all for it! If it means millions of dollars we don't already have in the city's coffers...added jobs and other major plusses- I say bring it on! But, on the other hand, it really IS exasperating....those that raise hell over any sort of progress, yet, they want to dwell in their delusional fantasies that Wichita, KS is a Tourist's fantasy....and live in a warped reality that Wichita is really a "With It" Place....really annoy and irk the hell out of me! Big time! Let's get totally real and face it- Wichita is twenty years behind the REST of the nation in terms of progress, cultural offerings and the like! Just the other day, I was talking to Mom, and she told me about how they rose such hell over the Liquor by the drink legislation way back in the day...How it was going to expotentially make the drinking problem worse in the community...funny how that didn't really change anything....They rose hell over bringing the Lotto to Kansas...that sure didn't change anything, either...And, now that the liquor stores are open for a few hours on Sundays- that sure hasn't changed anything either....Point is even IF Expanding Gaming DOES get voted in and comes to Sedgwick County, it really isn't going to significantly change anything in terms of the quality or improvement of daily life here in South Central Kansas as we know it...It's STILL going to be every bit as back water and backwards as it ever was...STILL twenty years behind the progress of other places in the country!
However, the question remains, just HOW much of that added money is actually going to go where it's needed- TO help the people in our community that NEED assistance from social services? Or are the city officials going to squander it all away on bullshit we don't need, or continue to drum away that money into the vast black hole that their delusional fantasies created in the creation of their little dream world where Wichita is THE tourist Destination? Please! There's NOT shit here! Nothing to drawn in the tourists, and God only knows that IF our city officials get their hands on any significant amount of money, it's going to be squandered away on stupid crap like that fancy light display near Meridian and Mc Lean....or fancying up the area near the river- like they did with the area near the Keeper of the Plains....or even that Arena down town we really DO NOT need! I'm really beginning to believe that our city and county government are on a mission to turn Wichita into a mecca for the rich man....and do all they can to isolate and hide away those of us that aren't affluent, and have money to squander on bullshit like that- Those of us that worry and fret over how we're going to meet our basic expendatures each month...rent, utilities, groceries, medical expenses, so on and so forth!
That REALLY burns my chocolate chip cookies! I mean really! They say they WANT to make Wichita a Tourist's wet dream to come true! Yet, on the other hand, they're completely blind OR Delusional to the reality of the fact, that there is really NOTHING here TO draw tourists in, what's more, until we can get THE kind of jobs and money drummed INTO the community to take care of MORE critical issues that in turn, get taken care of, and will place Wichita into a better position TO draw tourists in....- It's just a vicious cycle that's NOT going to stop until City and County Government get their heads out of their asses and smell the coffee, as it were! Because, as it stands now, they're just throwing tax dollars away into a vast, bottomless black hole...and they're foolish and delusional enough to call it progress! - But, I'm really NOT suprised! Considering that if one were to take into context and add it to the fact that we have a drunken, coke snorting, ignorant, inane cowardly jack ass in the Oval Office- One that isn't man enough to serve when his nation calls him- then depended upon Mommy and Daddy to help him evade his responsibility when called TO serve...yes, Bush...- and it just trickles down and worsens at each lesser level of government....State, City, and County...- I'm really beginning to think that Neo Con's lack the brains God gave Piss Ants! ( Not to mention the fact I question and have significant doubt as to the sanity and mental acuity of anyone that WOULD vote for a Neo- Con, or Republican Filth!) I mean, my God, and yes, this is a tired old argument- but, THINK about it, when Clinton left office, we had a surplus in our nation's coffers....Then that unmitigated Jack ass and his merry band of corrupt idiots and fools get voted in....and now, just look at how screwed up and messed over everything is! There are people going with out even the most simplest of basics, millions of people going with out much needed medical care...Every time Congress is in session more critically needed assistance is stripped away, and any and all tax relief only goes to the wealthiest...while they parasite it all away from those of us that have to rob Peter to pay Paul each month! - And they call THAT progress and growth? What a load of bullshit!
Then about the war, while I see the necessity of taking down Saddam Hussein and his little group of tyrannical crack pots....I still don't see the sense in draining our nation's military resources by being over there in Iraq. Let's face it, we STILL haven't taken Osama Bin Laden down, and we still haven't kicked the cowboy shit out of the Taliban to obliterate it...yet, here's Bush shipping us off to Iraq to fight over there....Then we have to face the daily details in the news about just how many MORE Americans that have lost their lives, and innocent blood shed because Bush just had to go to war with Iraq, when we hadn't finished cleaning house in Afghanistan! ( Okay, I totally get that Saddam needed a good ol' American Ass kicking..and he got it, in spades...Just like I totally get that there aren't any WMD's because he had them moved elsewhere so we wouldn't find them...However, what I find totally senseless is how our government and military is hell bent on making Iraq a democracy...It's NOT going to happen! Let's face it, the Sunni's and Shiites are dealing with invading forces- with the express intent to drive us out, so they can go back to their status quo- exterminating each other, and remaining loyal to their ancient feud and war amongst themselves....and, let's also face the reality that there's another tyrannical dictator in the wings to help get things under control in a way that they understand so they can continue to live as they always have. - Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT against America, our Military and all that it stands for.....But, I AM against our being tyrannical bullies forcing an ancient people to go against who and what they are...and utterly against senseless bloodshed that's happening over there- where our men and women are killed, and injured in a feud that is none of our business, and because that delusional jack ass in Washington thinks we can turn those people, their nation and ancient culture into a modern day democracy...That's not who and what they are! While it's NICE we care enough to want them to have that, we also have to face the reality that that isn't what their culture is, or how they live. They're NOT Americans, and they're culture isn't ours, and our culture isn't theirs! I'm sorry,but, I don't see any way in hell how Iraq is going to become the latest new kid on the block in terms of democracy or whatever. SO not going to happen...and it's senseless to shed American blood for the sake of a pipe dream and the delusional fantasy of a drunken coke snorting jack ass that lacks the brains god gave a piss ant!
I WILL tell you what I'm ALL for- and that is getting our miltary forces the hell OUT of Iraq, and safely home onto American soil. That's what I'm for! Then again, I'm also for seeing Bush get what he's got coming...treasonous sack of shit that he is!
Did I also mention that I am utterly livid that Bush almost practically pardoned Scooter Libby? What shit is that? He violated the law, and was sentenced as per the law! So, why is it then that he gets to walk almost literally scot free? That is SO wrong! Majorly wrong! The hypocrisy and double standard of it literally infuriates me! Cut and dried! Now, if you or I did the same things to break the law that Libby did, we'd get drawn and quartered or whatever- sentenced to the fullest extent of the law....but, not Scooter.....- Now, you're really going to think I've done lost my ever loving mind when I say this....The entire Scooter Libby thing is JUST as ludicrous as the entire Martha Stewart thing....Okay, I'm NOT a fan of Martha Stewart, period...- I understand that there are those that think ol' Martha is the cat's meow....Sorry, not THIS Kansas girl...( Then again Paula Deen can kick the cowboy shit out of Martha any day in terms of having it going on!! Then again, so could Rachael Ray, for that matter! ) .anyway....I see THAT for what it was....it was the Good Ol' Boy's club having a grand old temper tantrum over the fact that Martha proved that a woman can have damn good business sense, shatter the glass ceiling, and build herself one hell of a business empire...essentially rubbing their noses in their misogynist sexist bullshit....Okay, so what if Martha dabbled in a little inside trading...she had a hot tip that was in HER best interests to act upon to save herself a little money, and, perhaps bail herself out of a financially hellish hell holeif she had stayed in there. - Then there's Scooter....he violates the law, and almost literally gets away with it? Just because he's buddies, friends, and pals with Dick Cheney and President Bush? Uh huh....I see THAT for what it is! Sheer unmitigated bullshit....- Now, please don't take all that the wrong way- I was just using it as an example of how warped,twisted, sexist and corrupt Bush and Co are....Not to mention anal, petty, corrupt and slimier than a pile of dog shit with fleas on it!
I had an excellent laugh the other day! While I was at Michaels, I saw the Martha Stewart crafting stuff....well....let's just say, I wasn't any too impressed with it....and rather thought that it was equivalent to the stuff I see in the Scrapbooking section at the Dollar Tree near my house! What a joke! What I find astounding is that there are people idiotic and daft enough to shell out hard earned money for that crap just because it has Martha Stewart's name on it! Then again, I thought the stuff at the dollar store was a lot more nicer looking! Not to mention a lot more friendlier to one's wallet in contrast to the over priced junk Martha's hawking at Michaels! Me, being me, I thought what a joke...and there are people stupid enough to squander away their money on that crap, when they can get far nicer stuff for a dollar, if that's what they're into?! But, on the other hand, I was way happy to see that the Mary Engelbreit stuff in the dollar bins had multiplied- A LOT of cute stuff there, I thought...I might just have to make another trip out there, and get me some!! LOL..nah, I'd rather buy yarn at Michaels than that! Either way, I had one hell of a good laugh...and was pleased to see that my gut instinct, once again was right on the money! Yay me!!! (But, on the other hand, I wasn't any too impressed with Michael's west Yarn selection...talk about skimpy and lame!!! No wonder I prefer Hobby Lobby or Wal Mart for budget yarn and other knitting and crochet goodies!)
Oooh and I nearly forgot to go on about Harry Potter...I've read the last book in the series, and for those that haven't read it, I won't spoil it for you...let's just say that it was worth the bumpy ride and the wait to see how it all ended up...and I'm happy that Harry got his happy ending, and that Ron and Hermione lived to tell the tale and all that! Although, I can't help but wonder what Rowling is going to tackle next, and if it's going to be as gripping and a good a read as the Harry Potter series was!
So, now you know the rest of the story...and I'll try NOT to bitch,rant and rave about politics next time..I'm sure it's all boring you silly or whatever...
